Uncrease

Privacy policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

Uncrease ("the app") is published by Partech Systems Limited ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles and why.

Your documents stay on your device

You don't need an account. The documents you add, the text the app makes from them, your highlights and notes, your reading positions and your settings are stored only on your device. We can't see them, and the app never uploads them.

Reading scanned pages (text recognition) and reading aloud happen on your device, using the system's own services. Recommendations are also worked out on your device, from what's in your library.

What the app sends over the internet

The app only connects to the internet when you ask it to:

  • Links you add. When you add a link, the app downloads that page or file from its website, as a browser would.
  • Discover. Searches and downloads go directly to the catalog you're using: Project Gutenberg, arXiv, OAPEN, or a catalog you added yourself. Those services receive your search words and the books you download, as they would from their own websites. Recommendations are fetched the same way: the catalogs receive searches based on subjects in your library, never the library itself. If you add a catalog that needs a login, the login is stored on your device and sent only to that catalog.

Usage statistics and crash reports

To learn which features people use and to fix problems, the app sends usage statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase and crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics, both run by Google. Usage statistics record kinds of things, such as a PDF being added, a document opened or finished, a highlight made, a setting changed or a catalog searched. They include the file type, rounded counts (for example "11–50 pages") and which catalog was used. They never include the names or contents of your documents, your highlights or notes, what you search for, or web addresses. Crash reports include the technical details of the error. Firebase adds basic device information (model, operating system, app version, country and language) and identifies your copy of the app with a random app-instance ID. The app has no advertising and doesn't use the advertising ID.

You can turn usage statistics and crash reports off at any time in the Library: tap ⋯ and set Share usage statistics to Off. Google's handling of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Deleting your data

Deleting a document in the app removes it and everything made from it. Uninstalling the app deletes your whole library from your device.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here and change the date above.
