Glide Home

Swipe, glide, stop. Then think again.

Every puck glides until it hits something. Park them all on their docks.

Why it’s different

What makes Glide Home different

One swipe, one glide

A puck keeps going until a wall, the edge or another puck stops it. Docks won't stop it by themselves.

Use the other pucks

Park one puck to make a stop for the next. Later levels have three or four pucks to line up.

Beat par

Every level has a par worked out by a solver. Match it for three stars. Undo and restart are free.

Three looks

A 1970s curling rink, a floodlit late skate or a frozen pond. Switch any time in Settings.

How it plays

Glide Home is a sliding puzzle on ice. Swipe a puck and it glides until it hits something: a wall, the edge of the rink or another puck. Your job is to park every puck on the dock of its own colour.

The catch is that a puck won't stop on its dock unless something stops it there. So you set up blockers, slide one puck out of the way of another, and work out the order. There are 120 levels, from one puck and one move up to four pucks and fourteen.

Every level's par comes from a solver, so three stars always means you found the shortest way home. Stuck? A hint shows the next move of the best solution.

Tips

How to play well

  1. Look past the dock

A puck only stops on its dock if something is waiting on the far side, such as a wall, the edge or another puck. Before you swipe, check what lies beyond the dock in that direction.

  2. Build your own stops

When nothing stands beyond a dock, park another puck there first. The order you move the pucks in often matters as much as the moves themselves.

  3. Undo really is free

Undo takes the move off your count as well as off the rink, so trying an idea and stepping back never costs you stars. Restart puts the count back to zero.

  4. Hints start from where you are

A hint shows the next move of a shortest solution from the current position, so you don't need to restart first. Hints don't affect your stars, which only count moves.

  5. Know the star margins

Matching par earns three stars. Two stars allow two moves over par, or a third of par on longer levels, and you can replay any unlocked level to improve your best.

Questions

Asked and answered

Is Glide Home free, and are there ads?

It's free to play in your browser and supported by ads, with no banners. A full-screen ad can appear between levels from your tenth finished level, then at most once every ten levels and never within five minutes of the last. A video ad only plays when you ask for a hint, and if none is available the hint is free.

Is Glide Home on Android?

Not yet. For now you play it in your browser.

Can I play with a keyboard?

Yes. Click a puck and use the arrow keys to slide it. Number keys pick a puck, Z or Backspace undoes, and R restarts.

Do I have to play the levels in order?

Finishing a level unlocks the next one. You can replay any unlocked level, and your best stars are kept.

Where is my progress saved?

In your browser on this device. There's no account, so your levels and stars don't carry over to another device or browser.

Is there a daily puzzle?

No. Glide Home is a set of 120 levels, from one puck and one move up to four pucks and fourteen moves.
