Kept

Know when it can go back.

Photograph a receipt. Kept tells you when it can go back and when the warranty runs out.

Coming soon to Google Play
Kept's list of receipts as coloured passes, with the linen shirt that can go back within 9 days at the top A John Lewis casserole as a pass, with a timeline from the day it was bought to the return date and the warranty Where each date comes from, quoting the words on the receipt or naming the UK law
How it works

Most of us keep receipts, and then forget them. Kept reads the receipt for you and works out the dates that matter: the last day to return it, the 14 days to change your mind on an online order, the 30 days to reject something faulty, and when the warranty runs out.

Each receipt becomes a pass, coloured by the date it leads with, with a timeline from the day you bought it. Kept never invents a return period: if a shop doesn't offer one, it says so, and tells you what the law still gives you.

From a photo

Take a picture of a receipt, or paste an email receipt. Kept finds the shop, item, date, total and policies.

Shows its working

Every date says where it came from, the receipt (quoted), UK law, or you, and you can change it.

Reminders with buttons

A nudge before each date passes, with "Returned it" and "Remind me tomorrow" on the notification.

On your home screen

Widgets for the next thing to take back, the next three dates, and how much could still go back.

Stays on your phone

No account and no ads. Your receipts and their photos never leave your device.

Getting the most from it

Good to know

  1. Flat, bright, whole

Lay the receipt flat in good light and get the whole thing in the photo, including the bottom, where the returns policy usually is.

  2. Check before you save

Kept shows every date and where it came from. If something was misread, tap Change, or Edit for the shop, item, date and total.

  3. Emailed receipts

Copy the whole order confirmation and paste it with the clipboard button next to Add a receipt. Kept reads it the same way.

  4. Answer from the reminder

Use Returned it or Remind me tomorrow on the notification itself. You don't need to open the app.

  5. Put it on your home screen

The widgets show the next thing to take back, the next three dates, and how much could still go back, and count the days themselves.

Questions

Asked and answered

Is Kept free?

Yes. There are no ads and no account.

Are my receipts sent anywhere?

No. Photos and receipts stay on your phone and are read there, so it works without signal. Kept sends anonymous usage statistics, never what's on a receipt, and you can turn them off under ⋯ at the top of the list.

When will it remind me?

At 9am, three days before a return date and on the day itself, and a month before a warranty ends and on the day.

What if the receipt doesn't give a return period?

Kept won't invent one. Shops don't have to take back things bought in person that aren't faulty, so it says so, and still shows what UK law gives you, such as 30 days to reject something faulty.

How does it count the 14 days for online orders?

The law counts from delivery, but Kept only knows the receipt date, so it counts from that and says so. That errs on the early side.

Is this legal advice?

No. Kept explains the usual UK rules and what your receipt says. If a shop won't help, Citizens Advice can.

Kept is made by Partech Systems Limited.
