Why it’s different

Sudoku you don’t have to squint at

Numbers you can read

Digits fill their squares in a typeface made for low vision, and Extra large makes them bigger still. The number pad shows how many of each number are left.

Hints that explain

A hint shows the next number you can work out and says why in plain words, such as "Only 7 fits in this square". Three hints in each puzzle are free, then a short ad of your choice gives another. Undo is always free.

Fair puzzles, four levels

Every puzzle has exactly one answer and can be solved by logic alone. Easy to Expert are graded by the techniques each puzzle needs.

No rush, no penalties

No clock unless you turn one on, and no "three mistakes and you lose". Clashes can be marked in red, or not at all.

How it plays

Sunroom Sudoku is the classic number puzzle laid out to be easy on the eyes. The board fills the screen and the numbers fill their squares, in a typeface designed for readers with low vision. Tap a square and then a number, or pick a number first and tap every square it goes in. Pencil notes stay big enough to read, and the row, column and box around the square you tap are gently shaded.

Every puzzle has exactly one answer and can be solved by logic alone, from Easy to Expert. When you're stuck, a hint shows the next number you can work out and tells you why in plain words. Undo is unlimited, and there's no clock unless you want one.

There are three looks to choose from: deep Plum, light Lilac for a bright room, and black-and-white Night for the strongest contrast. And there's a puzzle of the day, the same for everyone.

Tips

How to play well

  1. Look in the boxes first

Pick a number and look at one 3×3 box. If that number already sits in two of the box's rows, it can only go in the third. Often only one square is left.

  2. Count what's missing

When a row, column or box has seven or eight numbers, the missing ones are easy to place. The number pad's "left" counts show which numbers are nearly done.

  3. Use notes for the hard ones

Turn on Notes and pencil in the two or three numbers a square could be. When two squares in a row can only be the same pair of numbers, no other square in that row can be either.

  4. Stuck? Ask for a hint

The hint tells you which square to look at and why. Read the reason before you put the number in, and the next one comes easier.

Questions

Asked and answered

Is Sunroom Sudoku free? Are there ads?

Yes, it's free to play in your browser. An ad never interrupts a puzzle, and there are no banners. Your first ten puzzles have no ads at all; after that an ad may appear between puzzles, at most once every ten puzzles and never twice within five minutes. Undo never needs an ad. The first three hints in each puzzle are free; after that, you can watch a short ad for another hint if you choose.

Does every puzzle have one answer?

Yes. Each puzzle was checked by a solver to have exactly one answer, and to be solvable by logic using only the techniques of its level, so you never have to guess.

What do the levels mean?

Easy puzzles start with at least 36 numbers and need only the simplest steps. Medium adds pairs and pointing numbers, Hard adds hidden triples, quads, X-wings and Y-wings, and Expert needs swordfish and XYZ-wings.

Is there a timer?

Only if you want one. The clock is off unless you turn it on in Settings, and nothing in the game is timed.

Will I lose my puzzle if I leave?

No. Your puzzle is saved after every move, so you can close the page or take a call and carry on later.

Where are my statistics saved?

In your browser on this device. There's no account, and clearing the site's data deletes them.
